Spotlight: Cali

Heyyyyyy! So you have met my sisters, Cienna and Chica already! I am Cali, the other calico in the family. Cienna and I look almost identical....almost! Unlike Cienna, I am a die-hard foodie so I am a little on the.... errrrr......heavier side of weighing scales but as dad and mom would tell you, it is equally hard to take your eyes off me!

It took me a little longer than Cienna to make my way to my new home from the shelter. This is how my story goes........Cienna and I were rescued by the same shelter when the last family abandoned us but I fell sick so while Cienna went home from the shelter with mom and dad, I was being fostered at a volunteer's home. Later when I moved back to the shelter I would often look for Cienna but in vain. Then one day, about 3 months after Cienna had left the shelter,  mom and dad came to say goodbye to the shelter folks just as they were moving out of Columbus and leaving for Cleveland for good. The shelter was already closed for the day and as they stood by the window peeping at the cats inside, mom spotted me sleeping in a corner and exclaimed, "That's Cienna's sister...look at her!" She has told me this story so often that by now I know it verbatim. They went back home and kept debating if they could add another furry member to their family. Despite their initial doubts, they were convinced that it was the rightmost thing to do! And so I came home to be with Cienna. A long story but worth telling for its happy ending,  don't you think?

We now live in Cleveland and you have to drop by here to say hi often! We are a fun bunch and hopefully will help you make this world a no-kill place for all our fur friends still waiting to find a happy home.

Spotlight: Cienna

Hola! This is Cienna here! No, my parents are not spelling-challenged or anything (though they are no spelling-bee champs either)  but for some reason best known to them, they prefer the letter C over S.  Mom loves the orange in me and has long nursed a fancy for Italy ....which kinda explains why she named me so.

Dad found me at the same shelter where he found Chica, only a year later. He had been thinking of finding mom a lap cat and though I am not one, he just could not resist my feisty ways! When he got mom to the shelter to meet moi, I chatted so much with her that she couldn't have said no if she tried. And so I came to a new home with 2 humans who adore me like no one has before (my sister Cali and I were abandoned twice in the past) and a new-found sister, Chica who can be pretty territorial sometimes but she's family at the end of the day.

Humans often like to categorize: calicos are sweet, tabbies have attitude, cats are self-absorbed, dogs are not........well, come spend some time with us and I can bet my parents' lifetime earnings <insert a cat-wink here> that you will not be able to typecast us again, ever! Hope to have a good time with you guys.........see you often!

Spotlight: Chica

Hi there! I am Chica, the first feline member and the only tabby in the family! I first found dad when he was totally clueless about cats but knew he wanted one. While he was going about petting one cat to another in the shelter, I spotted him and surprised him with one of my special head-butts.  This was in the summer of 2010 and the memory of how he found me or rather how I found him still turns him into a marshmallow in less than 5 seconds.

After much deliberations with mom, he named me Chicamala......well, what can I say except that my reputation often precedes me! But I have been at my best behavior for the most part and they have since been calling me Chica, though sometimes in a sudden rush of love they resort to unexplainable human gobble-speak and call me by chicoo, putu, mochoo, gutuputu and so on!!!! Very annoying but since they don't mean any harm, I am okay with it! And hey, mom often refers to me as her "alpha-queen"......I have no inkling what that means but it does sound kinda cool, don't you think!

Anyway, so welcome to our world......hope you will enjoy your time with us here!
